University of Maryland: New digitizations and acquisitions in the Gordon W. Prange Collection

University of Maryland has recently add new digitizations and newly acquired papers in the Gordon W. Prange Collection.

New digitizations:

7 photo albums and several loose photos in the Mead Smith Karras papers are now available online. Mead Smith Karras served as an economist for the Labor Division of the Allied Occupation Forces from 1946 to 1949. She was particularly involved with the establishment of the Women's and Minor's Bureau.  Her photos include various places around Japan - where she visited both in her free time as well as in her official capacities. 
153 slides in the Victor Delnore papers are now available online.  Lt. Colonel Delnore was a commander of the Nagasaki Military Government from 1946-1949, during the Occupation of Japan.  A majority of these slides depict the 400th anniversary commemoration of Saint Francis Xavier's arrival in Japan.  Great resource for the study of Christianity in Japan. 
446 slides in the Roy Simonson papers are now available online. Dr. Simonson worked for the Military Geology Unit during the Occupation of Japan.  There are photos taken throughout Japan, Okinawa, Palau, Guam and Hawaii.  
A majority of audio files as well as pdf transcripts in the Marlene Mayo Oral histories are now available online. These interviewees were involved with the Occupation of Japan in many capacities, and these recordings are great documentation of their roles and lives in Occupied Japan. 
 
George Hagen was a former prosecutor and chief of the Prosecution Division of the Legal Section within the Allied Forces. The materials cover topics related to Hagen's legal activities and on parole cases of war criminals.  Also, there are documents related to the International Military Tribunal for the Far East (Tokyo Tribunal) as well as photos of Japanese military leaders. The collection contains documents, photographs and newspaper clippings, and they are accessible onsite only. 
Wolf Ladejinsky worked on land reform during the Occupation of Japan. Starting in 1955, Ladejinsky worked on land reform in other East and Southeast Asian countries, including Thailand, Taiwan, and South Vietnam. The collection contains photographs taken in various locations and a few miscellaneous documents, and they are accessible onsite only. 
Robert Vincent served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Occupied Japan between 1945-1946.  He was in an Amphibious Engineer Regiment from 1945 to 1946 and in an Engineer Base Survey Company in Seoul, Korea in 1946. He was responsible for field-verifying and correcting contemporary Japanese topographical maps. The collection contains photographs taken in the US, Japan and Korea as well as audio recordings of Vincent's oral histories.  They are accessible onsite only.
